Christ and the Compromising Christian {or The Proper way according to the Bible to Learn Christ} Sin is a continuing reality in the life of any Christian, and the nature of Christianity is that the goal of Christlikeness can never be achieved until "we shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He is", in other words we as Christians will always fall short of the goals and values we aspire to be like Christ. As Gloria Gaither says, "We must aspire to goals higher than ourselves". Yet having said this, there is another matter of the habitually comprimising--for many different reasons--Christian, that manifests an improper learning of Christ. "This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." (Ephesians 4:17-24) If you have properly learned Christ according to the Bible, if you have indeed heard Christ personally in such a way to be a new creature, if you are being taught by Christ in your Christian life, then you must: 1. Cast off the ways of the world of the old person that you were BIC {Before In Christ} such as your former conversations, corrupt and deceitful lusts; 2. It is necessary with proper learning of Christ for renewal of your inward human spirit and the way you use to think; 3. Be clothed for head to toe with the new person IN CHRIST, a work of God's new creations according to righteousness and true holiness. 4. And the key words are "righteousness and true holiness", about which you know the Bible has much to say; and that they are implemented in your life style, that every word and action is consistent with the standards of that righteousness and true holiness. |
